The time flies when you are having fun. We have had a very successful last quarter, The club cookouts have been well attended and we really did a number on the fish at Shell Mound. There are some very interesting things taking place in the political arena. The Florida Airboat Association (FAA), which we are a member, has consulted with legal counsel and intend to bring legal action against Osceola County over the issue of access to this lake for everyone, including gator hunters. . Once again, development-oriented county commissioners have slapped us in the face. In Osceola County, they have gone so far as to ban alligator hunting by airboat after 11 p.m. on both East Lake Toho and West Lake Toho. To add insult to injury, they went so far as to even deny us our right to speak at a public meeting. 

 

Capt. Phil Walters is putting together a legal fund to sue Osceola County also. Phil is concentrating on both the recreational and commercial aspect of not being able to gator hunt the two lakes.

 

Our club is following this very closely because we could be next. We all know if we don’t stick together and fight for our right to run our boats that right can be taken away from us. The fight for our boating rights goes on so please pay your dues and help us in this fight.

The Board of Directors will be meeting on July 27 to plan our next six months if you have any ideas for things you would like to see the club doing, please contact a board member.

I would like to offer a personal thanks to club member Curt James. Curt won the raffle for the $500.00 WhirlWind propeller gift certificate and has         donated it back to the club to raffle off again.
